All the Details
The goal of this camp is simple – to provide cycling enthusiasts 3 amazing days of riding the the legendary San Juan Mountains in southwestern Colorado. This great riding is all a prelude to Stage One of the USA Pro Challenge which rolls out of Durango, Colorado on August 20th. It’s as simple as that. Come out for 3 days of fully supported and expert guided training days and spend day four watching the opening stage of this top notch cycling event.
The Location:
The “base camp” is at Cascade Village Resort located 25 miles north of Durango, Colorado and just 1 mile north of Durango Mountain Resort. Reservations for Cascade Village can be made through the following link – www.durangomountainresort.com – there are also numerous other condominiums and cabins that can be booked through Durango Mountain Resort.
Cascade Village boasts an indoor pool and Jacuzzi, 2 outdoor hot tubs, outdoor grills, indoor fitness center, and a tennis court. Nearest airport is just outside Durango, Colorado.
For altitude weary campers, there is an option to stay in Durango (6500 ft elevation). Remember that the daily rides leave from Cascade Village, 25 miles north of Durango.

What’s included in the Price:
- 3-4 guided rides with the BPC Coaching Staff
- Opportunity to ask questions and receive individualized answers from the BPC Coaches about training, racing, nutrition, and goal setting.
- Vehicle sag support on all rides
- Shuttle to and from the Pro Tour Challenge race
- Mid-ride lunch on Day 2 and Day 3 of the camp
Camp Itinerary
Thursday:
12:00pm – Evening: Arrival and check-in
5:00pm – 6:30pm: Short ride – 31 mi and ~2000ft of climbing over a 10mi span (option to add a 6mi, 6% climb at the end of ride)
7:30pm – 8:30pm: Dinner and discussion of camp itinerary
8:30pm – Lights out: Campers on own for rest of evening – Hot tubs, Jacuzzi, swimming pool available
Friday:
9:00 am Ride departs Cascade Village
9:00am – 2:00pm Roughly 60 miles and 3000ft of climbing (Cascade Village to Durango and back)
Ride will be broken up with a brunch stop in Durango
Saturday:
8:30 am: Ride departs Cascade Village
9:15am – 1 pm Cascade-Silverton-Cascade
42 miles and 5000+ feet of climbing. If you’re not going up, you’re going down!
There is the option to add on additional mileage for those that are up for it.
Sunday
8:30 am: Campers will be driven over to Silverton, Colorado for the ride start.
9:15 am – 1:00 pm: Depart Silverton on the “Million Dollar Highway” – route will take campers on a 7 mile steady warmup before heading up Red Mountain Pass and down a 13 mile decent into Ouray. Campers will eat a snack before tackling the 13 mile climb back up to the top of Red Mountain Pass. Fastest time up last year was 1h and 18 minutes. Descend back down and then roll the 7 miles back to Silverton. 46 total miles and about 5500 ft of climbing. Option to add on an additional 21 miles back to base camp if desired.
Monday
Enjoy the sights, sounds, and atmosphere of the opening stage of the USA Pro Challenge in Durango, Colorado! Maybe even partake in a few celebratory craft beers from one of the three local breweries. Below is an image of Stage One of the USA Pro Challenge. The race will complete a circuit of downtown Durango before heading out of town and on to Telluride.
